We are accepting applications for the position of Assistant
Finance Director/Treasurer . The Assistant Finance
Director/Treasurer is a vital position within the City’s Finance
and Technology Department. The position is responsible for
planning, directing, managing, and supervising the City's
Accounting, Treasury, and Financial Planning & Analysis Divisions
within the Department. The Assistant Finance Director/Treasurer
provides professional and technical assistance to the Finance &
Technology Director and serves as a division manager on the Finance
& Technology Department management team. This position may act as
the Finance & Technology Director in that position's absence.
This position is designated as "at will," serving at the
pleasure of the appointing authority, and subject to discharge
without cause and right of appeal.
The ideal candidate for this position will 1) have extensive
knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of local
government financial administration, including purchasing and
generally accepted accounting principles for state and local
governments, 2) demonstrate leadership success in a comparable
financial organization, 3) have a deep understanding of financial
challenges and opportunities, 4) be an experienced financial
subject matter expert with a commitment to public service, and 5)
provide staff leadership and perpetuate a helpful and supportive
culture, while also working within governmental accounting

Minimum Qualifications A combination of education, training and
experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in finance, economics,
accounting, business or public administration, or a closely related
field, and five years of increasingly responsible experience in
financial management, cash, investment, debt or revenue management,
accounting or auditing, including two years of experience in the
direct supervision of professional finance staff is required.
Experience in a local California government agency is preferred.
Possession of a master’s degree in public or business
administration and/or certification as a Certified Public
Accountant (CPA) is highly desirable.
LICENSE / CERTIFICATES
License : Possession of a valid California Class C driver's
license is required.
Certificate : Must obtain a California Municipal Treasurer
certification within two years of appointment to the position.
