in Oxnard, California, 93030! Job Title: Registered Nurse
Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care
Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12
Experience: Minimum 2 years in ICU License: Required
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 3 years' experience in
ICU preferred. Travel experience is preferred. Description: Unit
includes ICU & CCU. The unit has 20 beds. Certifications required
include ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIH. Staff-to-patient ratios are
typically 1 to 2, with the possibility of 1 to 1. Electronic
Medical Record system used is Cerner. Charge Nurses are present.
Nurse Aides will assist, working from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM,
performing blood draws, ECGs, and other technical duties. Every
other weekend is required. Holidays will be scheduled in
conjunction with permanent staff rotation, typically including one
major and one minor holiday. Scrub color is navy. Tele/Monitor
Techs used are Phillips. There are no dedicated monitor techs;
nurses are responsible for reading strips. Drips managed include
vaso, levophed, norepinephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, propofol, and
fentanyl. Ventilators are used in the unit. A hospitalist or
intensivist is available in-house. The hospitalist is on call after
hours, shared between facilities. There is no IV team. Respiratory
Therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are available 24/7.
Shifts consist of 12-hour durations. Self-scheduling is available
but not guaranteed. Floating to IMCU (step-down) or Observation may
be required. 3 shifts of floor-specific orientation are provided.
Common diagnoses include neuro surgery such as craniotomies,
carotids, ventriculostomies, ICP monitoring, open heart procedures,
post-catheterizations, Impellas, and balloon pumps. Travelers must
have experience and the ability to validate their skills. No CRRT
or ECMO experience is required. The cancellation policy allows for
up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment, and 3
shifts for shorter assignments. Charting is done using Cerner. 5
