Job Summary The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for performing in-depth manufacturing and cost center variance analysis, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, month-end closing, and internal control. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for financial closing process, account reconciliations, monthly plant financial statements, supporting reports and variance analysis - - Analyzes and reconciles all the plant balance sheet accounts - Performs manufacturing variance analysis - Prepares journal entries or monthly reports for Miscellaneous Accounts Receivable, Manual Freight Payments, State Sales and Use Tax - - Prepares, analyzes, and reports on PPV, Operations Overtime, and Returned Goods - - Works collaboratively with operations management to analyze manufacturing variances, cost center spending, and Work in Process Responsible for the development and review of plant standard costs - - Assists in the yearly review of spending allocations used to develop overhead rates for the business and support areas assigned - Ensures appropriate controls over company assets - Reviews inventory cycle counts, annual physical count and prepares reconciliations - Monitors inventory turnover and" -obsolescence - Conducts fixed asset audits - Works with accounts payable (AP) to address aged goods received, not invoiced - Monitors production to ensure all process orders are correct and closed timely - - Analyzes bills of material, thru-puts, purchase cost information for all new product setups and inputs into SAP (finished goods, raw materials, and packaging components) - Supports the plant controller and plant manager with monthly forecasts and annual budget Provides support to the auditors as needed (both internal and external) - Accountable for tracking, validating, and reporting the impact of plant cost-saving initiatives Attends Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and provides updated record for communication of status and performance to leadership team Acts as the site's finance SAP subject matter expert and trainer of other operators to better utilize the system - Works with management and other sites to create consistency in procedures - Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications: Bachelor's/university degree ideally in accounting or finance 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment; SAP experience is a plus Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); Excel financial modeling is an asset Excellent knowledge of advanced Excel formulas. Ability to work with legacy database. High degree of presence, credibility, and confidence in working with all levels in the organization Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong critical reasoning and problem-solving skills Self-starter with the ability to work independently with general guidance and thrive in ambiguous environments without strict structure Team orientation, with a strong sense of commitment to team members and client impact Organizational Relationship / Scope: The Senior Cost Accountant will report directly to the Plant Controller. He/she will interact with site leadership along with other functions within the organization. Working Conditions: The work environment is a manufacturing setting. The appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required throughout certain areas of the facility.
